For centuries, Jewish communities around the world have collected Maot Chittim so that those of limited means may celebrate a joyous and kosher Pesach. In fact, Passover has been called the festival of Abraham, whom our Sages characterized as the foremost exponent of chesed (kindness and generosity). The giving of Maot Chittim, which enables families in need to purchase wine, matzoh and the other Pesach necessities, is a basic mitzvah every Jew is obligated to fulfill.
For many of our AMIT families, who fall below the poverty line and struggle just to get by on a daily basis, the special expenses imposed by Pesach are an insurmountable burden. Each year they turn to AMIT - to our annual Maot Chittim Campaign - to help provide the funds necessary to purchase the Passover basics.
Every dollar AMIT receives for Maot Chittim is immediately transmitted to Israel for distribution to our students and their families. Your donation of only $54 will furnish wine and matzoh for an entire family. Gifts of $100, $180 and above will do that much more.
AMIT's Maot Chittim Campaign allows each of us to share the warmth and happiness of Pesach with our AMIT families in Israel.
