AMIT Kfar Batya in Ra'anana was opened in 1947 to provide a home for orphans of the Holocaust. Through succeeding decades, AMIT Kfar Batya has sheltered immigrant children from countries the world over, weaving them into the tapestry of the Jewish homeland.
AMIT Kfar Batya today enrolls more than 1500 students, ages six through 20 in grades one through 14. Approximately 300 students live on campus and 1200 live in the surrounding communities. Some 30 percent of the students are immigrants from the former Soviet Union and Ethiopia.
Existing sports facilities at AMIT Kfar Batya cannot meet the needs of it students. These facilities include an outdated gymnasium and inadequate playing grounds, athletic courts, and soccer field, as well as a swimming pool in need of extensive repairs. There are no tennis courts, running track or modern facilities for today's active children and young people.
Several years ago, AMIT launched a campaign to build the Harvey Goodstein Sports Complex at AMIT Kfar Batya. Harvey Goodstein, of blessed memory, held the deep conviction that sports could make a difference in the lives of needy children. He knew that children could learn teamwork, discipline and sportsmanship through athletics; that they could learn how to strive for a goal and gain a sense of pride and self-worth, which would have a major impact on their development.

The dedication of Phase I of the Harvey Goodstein Sports Complex took place in early 2005. While several facilities in the complex have already been endowed, there remain many outstanding opportunities to participate with gifts ranging from $1,000 to $1.5 million.
