If you make a sandwich at home with tuna salad or peanut butter and jelly, it probably costs well under a dollar, maybe not even 50 cents. But for some of our poorest AMIT students, even the price of a homemade sandwich is too much for their families to afford.
We have started a “Sandwich Program” to help students in need. Many of these youngsters are arriving at school hungry or are being sent to school without food for lunch or snacks. They come from families that are living significantly below poverty level, where one or both parents have been unemployed for long periods of time and are struggling to supply themselves and their children with the bare necessities.
Hungry children – especially teenagers in high school – cannot learn and cannot thrive. At AMIT it is our mission to provide our students with whatever special services – be it extra tutorials, counseling or sandwiches – they need to succeed academically. But to continue to maintain these services, we need your help.
Please demonstrate your support of the more than 25,000 AMIT children with a contribution to our Sandwich Program. Your gift of $50, $25 or even $10 will go to support a program that is helping some of our poorest students succeed in school and begin to forge a productive and meaningful life. News Bulletin! Thanks to the generosity of our donors, sandwiches are now being delivered to elementary school students in Kiryat Malachi and Sderot. Several other AMIT schools are in need. Please donate to our Sandwich Program and help some of our neediest children in Israel have a satisfying and productive school day.
