My name is Aviv and I am very excited as I look forward to the start of a new school year. That is because at my school – the AMIT High School in Karmiel – I experienced something I had never felt before, a sense of community and belonging. Please let me tell you how much your support of AMIT means to students like me. AMIT has truly changed my life.

Before coming to AMIT Karmiel, I was something of a loner. My father passed away when I was very young and my home situation was difficult. My mother worked long hours and had little time for me or my sisters. I would keep to myself at school, go home and just be by myself.

I didn’t have much interest in my studies, didn’t know what I wanted to do when I finished school, was just drifting. Then I entered AMIT Karmiel and everything changed.

The classes were interesting, even exciting, and I found myself fascinated by physics, of all subjects. My physics teacher asked me to her home for Shabbat and took a special interest in my progress, even securing a stipend for me that paid for all my textbooks. One of the rabbis spent extra time studying with me, and introduced me to a senior who also loved physics and who became sort of a mentor. Before I knew it I had friends!

This year I am going to be one of the leaders of our school’s physics team – me, who previously was like a piece of the woodwork in my other school. My mother is very proud of me; but more importantly, I am proud of myself. I plan to study physics at university after my army service and work for a big corporation when I’ve completed my degrees.

Please understand that none of this would have been possible without the wonderful education I am receiving at my AMIT high school, with its caring, dedicated teachers. And now I’d like you to know that you can help AMIT to do the same and more for hundreds of other students in Israel – with a gift to the AMIT 2012 Back to School Campaign.

Your gift will help AMIT students all across Israel as they work hard to succeed in school. It will help fund special tutorials and extra study sessions, buy books and school supplies for students whose families are in financial difficulty, and it even will pay for counseling for students
with special needs. Your gift can mean the difference between failure and success!

Please click here to send in your gift today. AMIT has helped me and so many other young Israelis to rise above our family’s problems and succeed in school. With your donation you can help AMIT do the same for thousands of other boys and girls throughout Israel.

Please note that all contributions to AMIT are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law. AMIT meets all standards of charity accountability of the Better Business Bureau of Metropolitan New York. Matching gifts are accepted.
